The Community Health program at CMTC equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and passion to promote health and prevent disease at the grassroots level. Offered at three progressive levels — Artisan (Level 4), Certificate (Level 5), and Diploma (Level 6) — this course is ideal for individuals who want to make a real impact in their communities.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to advance your skills, the Community Health program provides a clear and flexible pathway to becoming a trusted frontline health worker, ready to respond to local health challenges and deliver effective public health interventions.

Program Levels & Entry Requirements

Level 4 – Artisan in Community Health

  • Entry Requirement: KCSE Mean Grade of D (Plain)

  • Duration: 1 year

  • Outcome: Prepares students for entry-level roles and qualifies them to proceed to Certificate level.

Level 5 – Certificate in Community Health

  • Entry Requirement: KCSE Mean Grade of D+ (Plus)

  • Duration: 2 years

  • Outcome: Equips students to support health interventions in rural and urban communities; can progress to diploma.

Level 6 – Diploma in Community Health and Development

  • Entry Requirement: KCSE Mean Grade of C- (Minus)

  • Duration: 3 years

  • Outcome: Trains professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate community-based health programs.
